Our Policies


Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik is a subsidiary of Türkiye İş Bankası. As a private pension and life insurance company, Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik, which incorporates sustainability to its core values; has contributed to the improvement of the living standards of individuals and the achievement of its continuity since it was founded. It contributes to the development of the national economy with the aim of improving living standards in society, and it serves the sustainable development.

Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik maintains its activities with the mission of improving awareness among individuals about securing their future, providing financial solutions meeting their needs and creating long-term and stable pension funds.

This policy sets forth the basic principles and procedures aimed at minimizing negative environmental and social impacts related to both the Company’s and customers’ business and other activities while maximizing positive impacts.

The General Management is responsible for updating and implementing this policy. This policy shall be reviewed at least annually and updated as deemed necessary.
General Principles
Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik adopts the following principles regarding sustainability:

• It shall measure environmental and social impacts that occur due to the activities and shall aim to improve negative impacts.
• It shall measure, monitor, aim to reduce and remove carbon footprint annually within the scope of the fight against global climate change.
• It shall act with the awareness of environmental and social responsibilities while conducting fund management activities, and the private sector borrowings and investment decisions for securities involved in the “Sensitive Sectors” specified in the policy shall be evaluated within the scope of corporate know-how and shall be submitted to the Executive Board for approval.
• The funds shall not be provided to the investments that are within the scope of the “Activities that are not to be invested” involving activities banned and/or restricted by the national legislation and international conventions to which Turkey is a party, within the scope of corporate knowledge.
• It shall pay regard to support various green investments, investment instruments such as green/sustainable bonds and the responsible investors involved in sustainability indices, notably renewable energy on investment decisions for domestic and overseas debt instruments within the scope of the fund management activities.
• The Company shall play an exemplary and leading role in the sector with its corporate social responsibility projects developed in line with its strategy and goals..
• It shall closely monitor the national and international developments by taking part in the sustainability initiatives.
• It shall make it a rule to not to tolerate bribery and corruption by considering ethical and moral rules of the Company and to punish such actions.
• It shall respect human rights and employee rights, it shall provide equal opportunities and aim to maintain its long-lasting collaboration with its employees.
• It shall aim to develop products and services that support community development from a sustainability point of view and shall develop sustainability-themed products.
• It shall aim to provide continuous customer satisfaction.
• It shall select suppliers in line with the commercial practices, in a fair, honest and impartial manner. In the procurement processes, it shall pay regard to include suppliers who have local and environment friendly practices in order to support local and low-carbon economy provided that they are in compliance with the Company legislation.
• It shall contribute to raising awareness in the area of sustainability among Company employees and in society by supporting training and activities for competency development.
• It shall manage the activities carried out within this scope with a transparent and accountable structure.
Sensitive Sectors
Nuclear Energy, Coal-fired Thermal Power Plants, Gambling and Games of Chance and Firearm Industry are defined as “Sensitive Sectors” in the fund management activities within the scope of this policy. The private sector borrowings and investment decisions for securities in these sectors shall be evaluated within the scope of corporate knowledge and shall be submitted to the Executive Board for approval.
Activities that are not to be invested
Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik, within its knowledge, shall not finance companies operating in the following areas and/or the following ways;

• Production and trade in products and activities that are prohibited pursuant to the effective local legislation and/or international conventions.
Related prohibitions cover the following areas of activity including, but not limited to:
- Production and/or trade of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, herbicides and ozone depleting substances that are prohibited under the international conventions.
- Trade in wildlife and wildlife products regulated underCITES. 1
- Cross-border trade of wastes and waste products that are not in line with Basel Convention and the other related international conventions to which our country is a party.
- Production and/or trade of PCBs or prohibited types of asbestos or products containing them.2
• Activities involving forced labor3 and harmful child labor4 and activities where child labor is prohibited under the national and international legislation.
• Activities that lead to significant change, damage or destruction of the cultural properties included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List and UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
• Manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction and land mines.
• Activities carried out in the wetlands that are designated as RAMSAR sites under the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (RAMSAR Convention).
• Diamond mining and trade of diamonds in the countries which are not involved in “Kimberley” process.
• Activities in which drift-nets are used in the hunting of fisheries.
• Affairs related to pornography or prostitution.
• Transportation of oil and other hazardous substances via tankers that are not in line with the requirements of International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The minimum age limit of child labor shall comply with the provisions of ILO’s Conventions on Fundamental Human Rights and the national legislation.
This policy and amendments thereof shall come into force as of the date of its approval by the Board of Directors.
